The Stubbing of the Toe....

I was reading a guy's blog who commented here. He does some philosophizing on this topic as an aside.

A man stubs his toe. Then, he curses the inanimate object upon which he stubbed his toe. This seems odd, irrational. "A curse be upon thee, coffee table! You old Devil, damn you! Verily I say unto you, my toe....it hurts." Then he sits down on the table and rubs it a little and says, "Honey, my toe...it really does hurt."

Perhaps the cursing is a measure of his need for divine justice and vengeance upon the coffee table. He is created in the pattern of a just God. So then, he demands justice for the pain in his toe!

Or as to obscenities, for the vulgarity of that coffee table being there. He must express the vulgarity of being of this world! Well, I cannot write that down. Suffice to say that we are human, all too human and almost just humus, thus the earthiness of us.

Sometimes it seems like we are a Cosmic joke played upon Evil. But I want to laugh with those who know laughter and not be laughed at for going with those who know not laughter.

There exists in your writing an almost lyrical quality, which I find quite intriquing. More than this, I find the enigmatic way that you write to be not unlike Chesterton. Only, I can understand his more readily. All of this to say that I have enjoyed your posts. Further, I saw, or believe I saw, that you were part of a band. My friend is the minister of music at our church here in TN, so shoot me an email if ya'll ever come down here. Maybe you could play for our college group, etc., if that is something which interests you. At the very least, I should enjoy meeting you, perhaps we could have coffee together should you ever find yourself in Tennessee. As someone said of you on the band's website, you truly are a wizard with words.
Adieu

"...I find the enigmatic way that you write to be not unlike Chesterton."

You're quite free with complements. Thanks. A long time ago I read some Chesterton dealing with philosophy.

I have not read much of any author's "fiction." I had not read much of the Bible for myself, until this past year or so. It is surprising how much you absorb by osmosis and being around things. But for me, reading the text is important. Instead, it was all philosophy, history, science and social science.

The big irony, the "facts" had little to do with finding Wisdom. It is more that wisdom comes to be combined, layered on top of factual knowledge. It helps researching to have some common sense about what you're looking for, what patterns are "likely" there to seek and find. In fact, there are some things that are almost always are there to find. Then, it gets easy to find out things that very few people know. Then you get to feel all special from a knowledge of secrets.

I do not really know how to write without using "big words" or patterns of words/thoughts that give people a headache. You need words in order to refine and define. I also think that the reason people get a headache is because they will not think, generally. They are not used to it. They are losing the capability. Then this manifests in their head. Then if they try to think, they cannot. They will have to try, try and try to be creative for a while. This is the pattern of MCs, rappers. They a lot to overcome. Then they begin writing rythmn and rhyme about it.

There are those who just have a brain lesion or a physical type of brain illness who cannot think. Noting this fact is not an insult. It is not like noting that someone is being a mental retard. It is descriptive, not normative. But there are also those who believe in Christianity, with its metaphor of a faith that can move mountains. Yet, they cannot seem to move a few neurons around by their mind. You have to accept what is, physically, sometimes. You also have to try.

Anyhow, thanks....I am not in that band. I am just a mere writer. I do wonder how fast I could learn music again. But that's my lil' brother's band. I'd have to check their blog about some things as far as recommending them. I have not been keeping up with them. They'd probably be happy to use their talents wisely. Maybe....for we had a lil' disagreement on that issue. It was pretty funny. Yet it was not exactly easy. A reader does not realize what a mental war is like until they stop reading and try to engage. For then you may have to realize that you are mentally retarded too. I am willing to realize this too, when someone actually makes a good argument.

Maybe one day I'll be in Tennessee and we could do some philosophizin'. The thing about that is, I'm always thinking in the back of my lil' mind, "If I could just write it down I could see what I'm saying and say this right, just so."

How about a little story about philosophizing, the election and a common Sense man. I was doing some philosophizing with him about the decline of civilization and so on. He reads history in his spare time. So it's an interesting discussion. Well, at the end of the conversation he brings up John Kerry's wife. This is what BOOM, set him off. That was surprising to me. It was her comment about Laura Bush. She said, "She hasn't had a real job." or something along those lines. He was not upset about the war in Iraq. He was a lil' shakey on it. With the historical perspective he takes a broad view and argues that nothing but civil war could be brewing. He may be right. This is another debate.

But he is not shakey on the liberalism of John Kerry's wife. He pretty much decimates her. So I am left thinking, "I wonder just how many votes that lost Kerry?"

It seems that there are a lot of common Sense men. They are not of the universities.

Thanks again....

I'll try to keep up with the blog. No time tonight, really....maybe just to copy over some research about Marx's racism. That may bore a lot of people. But, it is important. It's a lil' secret, too. You will not learn it in the university. It is important to know the why and how. I like history, science, etc., about as much as parables/fictions.

Except a funny parable, I like those better. It's a good way to make fun, to have fun. I'll have to think of some more, sometime.

Later.

And I always forget that you can't edit comments. One read through would be good...

There are a lot of mistakes in there. Sorry about that...

"But there are also those who believe in Christianity,"I trust you shall forgive me for not comprehending if this is so, but, do you believe?

"I will try to keep up with the blog."I assume you were referring to mine. If so, it was kind of you to say so.

Further, about my being free with compliments, I was simply stating what I thought, and think, to be true. You do remind me of Chesterton. (One of my favorite authors, by the by.) Chesterton, in his non-fiction, was prone to use paradox to explain. You, while not using paradox, per se, do use highly rythmical wording. This was my praise to you, viz., that I enjoy your style. Of course, I suppose it unnecessary to add that I enjoy what content I understand! As I do not have much time tonight, I, too, shall go.

Sincerely,

Carl

"These two people both know laughter, but are not and will not laugh together."

There is diversity. There is also Evil laughter and Good laughter. There are those who will know laughter and those who will know "gnashing teeth." I used to think, "What are these gnashing teeth, anyway?"

Well, it's just grinding them together. It seems to me that it is a symbolic reference to some things having to do with violence and communication too.

Anyway, you will not know the Sense of humor if you do not know the One. For now, you can get away with things. If you do He noted that you have had your reward in full.

As to diversity crossing the line to perversity on this issue of laughter....as it is written, abstain from coarse jesting. For after all, refined jesting is much more humorous.

The better you Sense the humors, the more humorous. Besides that, the feminine will like you for that type of Sense. It has to do with a sense of the sensuous. What does the wanted, want? To be wanted....the wantonness of that! What does the desired, desire? To be desired...and the desirousness of that!

If it looks like the sexes are designed to be complementary patterns, it is because they are. A few compliments help along the complementariness already there. Yep, I'm not even married. I know it is all hard, so hard! It always is. For those who like to snivel, everything looks like something to snivel about.

Anyhow, you may want to avoid the crass and crude while going more for the refined. Like all knowledge given by the Maker, that is for your own good.

But you have the option of rejecting such guidance, willful rebellion. Which is itself, just a bit funny.

"...that I enjoy what content I understand."

About that, just ask, then I might write a lil' dissertation about it. You're perceptive enough to pick up on some secrets! They are not so secret. I am tryin to teach people how to think and write so they can write the editorials and the like to the papers. Or their own blog, etc.

Each one who learns how to think expresses their version of the Uni-Verse, in vast diversity, in Truth.

Later....I made time, tonight.

I appreciate your insights.

"I trust you shall forgive me for not comprehending if this is so, but, do you believe?"

An important question....Christianity is too polluted a term, in a way. But like any -ian, Freudian, Popperian, etc., it has a meaning. So do I believe in the philosophy of the Philosopher, Christ? Yes.

I think belief is just your thought becoming stronger, becoming as knowledge, then deeper knowledge.

"He will purposely stir up controversy...."

Well, if you're going to say something then give a reference to the comment that was designed only to stir controversy and so on. As was already gone through, I did not sit down one day and say, "Today, I think I am going to dislike my brother's band. I can see that these friendly friends just want to be friends. But instead, I will have them not like me."

Instead, what was in the art was there, objectively. What was written was written, objectively. For it was the bundle of sticks who began to say, "Exterminate the vermin..." Etc. It was the "married Christian man" with his supposed status who wrote down various words, which are his own thoughts. His status did not matter as far as the issue at hand. That was all made clear and proven in the words. Then you said you did not care about the words so much. Yet, it seems clear that you do.

That's because words and symbols....Yeah, they're pretty important, after all.

As long as your here, here is some advice....do not bring a mental war that you got your metaphorical butt kicked on, back up. It just does not make sense to do so.

You can, if you reeeeally want to, as apparently you do. If you really just can't stand it! In fact, I would not mind if you do. It will be funny. Already, what triggered it was assigning me a type of identity. This is your great concern.

That is amusing, in itself. So go on, if you really want to.

"He displays excellence at being a downright cold hearted..."

That just hurts the feelings of my good lil' heart! Are you not supposed to be loving?

mynym said...

"...very own brother in an assortment of ways as stupid over the internet."

It must've hurt his good lil' heart.

Why, just the other night I saw some lil' tears in his eyes. Then he said, "Me no stupid!" But never fear, I gave him a lil' hug and said, "There, there....at least you're a good lil' drummer boy."

The nicety of that! But some lil' drummer boys cannot see what I see.

--------------------------------------------------

Well, you've got me thinking about your retardation now, childish one. Can a child, be childish? No.

Only a mental retard is, you see.

But I'm off to bed! Perhaps I will dream some interesting dreams. But who needs them, when the material of satire is about?

"So do I believe in the philosophy of the Philosopher, Christ? Yes"I hope you will forbear getting angy with my questions. Here, then, is my next: What do you believe is the "philosophy of Christ?"

Sincerely,

Carl

"Here, then, is my next: What do you believe is the 'philosophy of Christ?'"

Any anger I feel is fairly sublimated, I suppose. Work out your faith with Fear, you see. Anger can be useful too, you make a lil' whip, braiding two lines around each other and then have anger do some work for you too. It's rather convenient, having all this work done for you.

The philosophy of Christ is his Self. His essence is his own existence. He is the Maker's name, like a signature, a sign. He is who he is. So he is his own philosophy and yet conforms to the will of another.

How does the Psalmist put it? Blessed is the name of the Lord. For the name of the Maker is his living signature to man, the sign of a covenant. This is the Sign that some are designated to see. Those who have the eyes to see, let them see.

Let the dead in the head, bury their dead.

But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many we do not peddle the Word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God. 2 Corinthians 2:14-17

Keep at it Mynym! The truth hurts many times-but better to hurt than to be dead!

The better the sense of Life, the better the sense of Death, that makes sense. That makes a lot of sense.

There is a stygian stench to some, then they just manifest it.
