Interesting theories...

So long as people are making their Lexus leases and shopping at the mall, all is well until, right up to the moment that it is not.
These social justice types dont understand that this will not last. They have honestly just not thought it through. They believe that this is "their time" and "suck it up, payback is a bitch." They do not have even the most basic understanding of productivity or savings or even survival.
And yes, unfortunately we do get to go through this. Because we made some mistakes around what opportunity means and a misunderstanding of what fairness means. Our political system is polluted not by people wanting to offer their service or doing their duty, but by men who want power.
The good news is Civil War Two: Electric Boogaloo will be over very quickly and most likely not many shots will be fired. See, the cities and urban areas have this funny dependency on food. Consider Manhattan for instance. 12MM people in the metroplex (or maybe more, dont remember). If each one eats two tomatoes a week ('maters to the other poster here) then that is 24 million tomatoes that need to be grown and shipped or trucked in. Every week. Think about everything else they eat. Watermellons and etc. Its simply a matter of cutting off the food. Or if the food cuts itself off. These people are three meals away from utter chaos.
So yeah, if you have food, water, guns and some smarts, you will survive "the event." Things will rebuild afterwards, but it will get a little dicey in the interim. comment from a Zerohedge zealot under Better off on Benefits
Personally, I think these guys may be underestimating how powerful gradualism and propaganda may be with respect to extending looting by the ruling class and the banksters over lifespans. For instance, how could there ever be a realization "event"* among lemmings, instead of just new trends to be manipulated in their usual main stream of media and so on? After all, apparently with enough propaganda people can essentially be led to believe that even their starvation comes about as the result of a scapegoat or that they need to starve.

The trend is that the dollar is already collapsing so there may be no "event" other than a continuation of current trends.  "Hey, why does the price of food seem higher or somethin' no matter what?"  If it's gradual, then the bankster parasites from above may continue to gradually loot the middle class while less sophisticated parasites below also eat away at it....  at least to the extent that they are allowed to by demagogues like the Democrats before being sent off to war by Republicans.

In the end, the middle class may even gradually get unruly and hungry enough to form "unions" to essentially try to eat itself or the upper middle class as a scapegoat for the thugs and banksters of Obama Inc. If civilization declines, then maybe the decline can be observed from the least of these to the greatest. I.e. maybe it's not really any one "class."

Although I'd argue that a good case could be made for the banksters being the cause or "main stream" of the root of all evil. At least symbolically, just like Judas...

Just a tangent... but there's also a good case to be made for some type of psychological event or "market crash" or whatever.  Because unlike North Korea, it's unlikely that unruly Americans will be willing to starve for the sake of their ruling class. Speculation... but the event may begin with the abject corruption typical to British banking collapsing or some sort of psychological event being triggered with Britain as the epicenter.  Not that it really matters given how interconnected everything is now.. But meanwhile it's free health care for all and more benefits from sitting on top of paper ponzi for more and more British people!

Just kidding.... sort of, at this point it depends on how long people are planning on living "high, i.e. on drugs.  It does have a result in reality, at least for a time.  But it's a shame really. Because once you use drugs too much they lose their effectiveness and then there may be nothing for a physician to use when you really need it.  Let's see, America is the sole superpower and these are times of relative peace and prosperity and yet it's all a big financial disaster with everyone owing huge amounts of money/debt to each other, mainly because the banksters want to create more and more money/debt from nothing.  Shouldn't we all be more wealthy instead of less wealthy in times of relative peace, symbolically speaking?  Just saying.
