On a similar note, there's no utopia of tolerance and love just over the horizon if the idea of "gay rights" and defining different groups of people based on their sexual desires becomes more prevalent. Instead, even among those who supposedly accept and tolerate it all there will still be cases of blackmail among people like Jim McGreevey. It's just that the goal posts will be moved. If history is any measure, then even in decadence similar to the Weimar Republic there will still be cases like Ernst Roehm using homosexuality against other people and so on and so forth.
After all, it's not as if everyone is going to have an idealistic and middle class form of same sex marriage straight out of the 1950s. It is kind of ironic though, given that is often the image of tolerance and love held up for the sake of propaganda.
